Jacksonville Jaguars second year quarterback Blake Bortles had a promising showing on Friday night in the team's first preseason game, wetting the fans appetite for hope and seeing more. There has been a lot of praise going around for the young quarterback from the media and coaches, but it's also starting to come from teammates and even ex-teammates.
"He's tough. Determined to be great. I think he'll be a superstar in this league," former Jaguars and current Houston Texans wide receiver Cecil Shorts said on ESPN 97.5 in Houston.
Shorts of course played played with Bortles in his rookie season before signing with Houston in free agency.
Former NFL scout and current analyst Daniel Jeremiah also seemed impressed with how different Bortles looked when he finally watched the Jaguars game.
Good showing for Blake Bortles. MUCH improved footwork. His feet are following his eyes when he works thru progressions. Vision/accuracy ++

Perhaps the highest praise Bortles got in the past few days however is from current teammate Davon House, who said he's doing some Aaron Rodgers type things in practice when he was on Sirius NFL Radio Monday afternoon.
I'm not going to go that far, but with another quality showing against the New York Giants on Saturday, Bortles just might be taking the steps fans have been hoping he'd take in his second year.
