TJ Yeldon, Chris Clemons among injured Jaguars back vs. Lions

New, comments

While the Jaguars have had some bad injury news, they got news three players would return on Friday.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were hit with a couple of disappointing injuries in Saturday night's preseason loss to the New York Giants, most namely to wide receiver Arrelious Benn, who will have surgery on Tuesday for a broken clavicle. There is good news on the injury front however, as the team are expected to get back three players fans have been eager to see get on the field this week.

As it stands, all three players are expected to get time against the Detroit Lions on Friday evening, which will be a nationally televised game.

James Sample, the Jaguars fourth-round pick, broke his arm on a freak play in OTAs and has been out of practice ever since. He was supposed to be competing with Sergio Brown for a starting safety role, but at this point if he can show he can contribute on special teams early in the season that's a big plus.

The Jaguars second-round pick, TJ Yeldon, had been dealing with a hand injury he suffered in the team's scrimmage a few weeks ago. He's been practicing, though with a non-contact jersey, but we will finally see him get a few carries against the Lions.

And finally, veteran Chris Clemons will get back on the field and hopefully help a pass rush that's been pretty anemic so far in the preseason.
