The Jacksonville Jaguars have trimmed their roster to 75 players on Saturday afternoon, meeting the cutdown for the first round of cuts. There were not many big surprises among those who were released, which is pretty normal in the first trimming. Guys who are on the bubble usually get cut in the final cut down, as teams make the final decision and sometimes shop players around to see if they can get anything out of them before letting them hit the open market.
Here's the list of players the Jaguars released on Saturday:
WR Tandon Doss
QB Jeff Tuel
CB Tommie Campbell
S Desmond Cooper
TE Connor Hamlett
P/K Kasey Redfern
DE Camaron Beard
DT Eric Crume
OL Cody Booth
OL Jack Rummels
LB Khairi Fortt
LB Mister Alexander
The Jaguars also placed first-round pick Dante Fowler Jr. and second-year offensive lineman Josh Wells on injured reserve. It's a little surprising Wells hit injured reserve, but that seems like a stash job. The team also waived/injured Greg Jenkins, who will hit injured reserve if he goes unclaimed.
I'd say the biggest name in the first wave was Tandon Doss, but with Rashad Greene showing he's more than capable returning kicks and actually contributing in the passing game, the writing was on the wall for Doss.
Any surprises from this list for you?
