The Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Carolina Panthers on Sunday 20-9, in a game that was much closer than the score and a game that many people thought they'd win. Realistically, it was a game the Jaguars could have and maybe should have won, but they once again shot themselves in the foot too many times and still aren't at the point where they can overcome that many mistakes.
It's 7:44 p.m. on Sunday as I write this and I wanted you to know that because I'm still just a little drunk and the feeling is still raw.
Sunday sucked. Not just because the Jaguars lost, but because it was a bad football game to watch. I had a good time. I was with a lot of friends and we had fun, but it sucked. I cracked my first beer at a little after 8 a.m. I had a shot of tequila and I hate tequila. I had some clear moonshine. I had some apple pie moonshine. I had some wine out of a bag that I slapped before drinking it. I had a jello shot. I had some more beer.
It was a good time.
Until the game.
It was a boring game. Both teams plodded. The Jaguars defense actually settled in nicely, I thought, and played well for most of the game. They didn't really give of many big plays that I remember, but I'm only going off a live watch and no highlights. To be honest, this game ended up about how I expected. Two offenses trying to grind down the other team, but one offense made a bunch of mistakes and couldn't over come them.
Like last season, the Jaguars still aren't a team that can overcome losing the turnover battle. They're especially not a team that can overcome missing an extra point, missing a field goal, fumbling in/near the redzone (I don't remember how close) and throwing a pick-six.
That's just too many mistakes, and it was just the right amount of mistakes because they lost by 11 points.
Also, I just want to point out how funny it was that Luke Joeckel going out with an injury made a pretty big difference.
It sucks. It's frustrating. I understand people being upset. I'm not really upset, though. I had a good time at the game.
I don't know if the Jaguars are going to do well against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, who gutted out a 17-10 win over Washington.
All I do know, though, is ...
