Airing the dirty laundry: Week 7

Examining the penalties from the Jacksonville Jaguars game against the Oakland Raiders.

NFL: Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Death. Taxes. The Jaguars having too many penalties. These are things that are certain in life. On Sunday, the Jaguars continued this year’s trend of being a heavily penalized team. Even though the game was being officiated by the worst referee in the league, Jeff Triplette, the Jags were still responsible for too many penalties. They even threw in a few ejections this time, just to make things interesting!

Quick aside: What in the actual hell was that penalty for intentional grounding when the Raiders jumped offsides? That was one of the most bizarre calls I’ve ever seen.

Here’s the breakdown of all the citations from Sunday’s game, courtesy of NFLPenalties.com.

  • Defensive Offside - Dante Fowler - 0 yards(declined)
  • Neutral Zone Infraction - Sen’Derrick Marks - 5 yards

Instead of continually typing out the running tally for the year, I’ve decided to just link you to the spreadsheet that has them all here. You can sort the able by number of penalties, penalty yards, etc..
