The Jacksonville Jaguars head to Nashville to take on the Tennessee Titans on Thursday Night Football as underdogs. It shouldn’t be a surprise, as the Jaguars haven’t played well all season and certainly hasn’t played well on the road. The Titans as it stands are currently 3.5 point favorites, but to me with how the Jaguars are playing it feels like that line is a little low, especially with the news of Roy Miller’s injury, but that’s still fresh and the line could move.
As mentioned, the Jaguars nose tackle Roy Miller is out for the season with an Achilles injury, which will be a big loss on the defensive line against the run. The Jaguars have done a nice job against the run for most of the season and Miller was a big reason for that. When he went out on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders, there was a noticeable difference. That spells bad news for a short week coming up against the Titans and their "exotic smashmouth".
We like to make fun of Mike Mularkey, because he’s not a good coach, but the Titans offense is very effective running the football. DeMarco Murray is third in the NFL in rushing and his backup has been a very effective backup. To top that off, Jaguars fans have seen up close what quarterback Marcus Mariota can do with his legs, so stopping the run is going to be key on Thursday evening, else it could get very ugly for the Jaguars.
They can’t lose back-to-back games to their previous head coaches can they?
