Nathaniel Hackett becomes new Jaguars offensive coordinator

In the wake of the Jacksonville Jaguars firing offensive coordinator Greg Olson, quarterbacks coach Nathaniel Hackett has been promoted to lead the offense now, according to the team.

Nathaniel Hackett is in his second season as the Jaguars quarterbacks coach after being named to the post on January 29, 2015. Hackett spent the last two years with the Buffalo Bills as offensive coordinator.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network is reporting that a “disconnect” between Greg Olson and Gus Bradley is what led to the firing — specifically that Olson wasn’t focusing enough on the run. It’ll be interesting to see what a quarterbacks coach does to fix Blake Bortles’ mechanics and decision-making as well as right the course when it comes to running the ball more effectively.
