Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid thinks the Jacksonville Jaguars have one of the top defenses in the NFL, according to... Andy Reid.
In talking with media on Wednesday afternoon, Reid praised the defense’s production this year, which is fine — they’re near the top of the league when it comes to yards-per-play they’re giving up. The problem is just that they’re on the field so damn much.
But then Reid kicks the coach-speak into overdrive as he transitions to the offense and head coach Gus Bradley.
“With that, it’s most important that we talk about the Jaguars. We understand that they’re a good football team, and they’re one of the top defenses in the National Football League – production wise. They’ve got an offense that just made a switch there to give them a little juice in a positive way. So, we’re coming in and we understand all of that. We have to come in and prepare ourselves to play a good football team here at home ... Gus Bradley, I think, does a heck of a job with, he and his staff, down there coaching. We understand that, so we have to get ourselves right.”
Andy Reid, you magnificent bastard. You have to get yourself right.
What he said about the offense and Bradley aside — what do you think? Do you agree with Reid? Do the Jaguars have one of the better defenses in the league only to be handicapped by a kindergarten offense? Or is Reid blowing smoke?
