2017 College Football Playoff: Who are your top 4 Jaguars teams?

Jimmy Smith #82

The 2017 College Football Playoff selections have been made and the top four teams that will battle it out for the national championship this year are:

  1. Alabama
  2. Clemson
  3. Ohio State
  4. Washington

With the top-four theme in mind, who are your top four Jacksonville Jaguars teams? Which teams were most enjoyable? Which ones were most talented? Which ones have memories that you’ll remember no matter how low this franchise has gone under Gus Bradley and Dave Caldwell?

For me, as with a lot of you, it begins with the 1996 Jaguars team. Rallying from a 4-7 record in the middle of the season to rattle off five straight wins to grab a Wild Card spot and then knock off the Buffalo Bills and Denver Broncos as massive underdogs before losing to the New England Patriots in the AFC Championship game.

Next up is probably the 2007 team that beat the Pittsburgh Steelers twice at Three Rivers Stadium in one year and somehow kept it close against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots. And that defense led by John Henderson, Marcus Stroud, Rashean Mathis, and Daryl Smith were so, so fun to watch. (I still say that if we somehow win that game in Foxboro, we beat the San Diego Chargers in the AFC Championship and go on to the Super Bowl to face Tom Coughlin.)

The 1999 team is special in that it was the most talented roster this city has ever seen, but a second half collapse in the AFC Championship game against the Tennessee Titans still stings. And the thought of watching two high-powered offenses in the Jaguars and St. Louis Rams would’ve been a treat.

Then I’d probably say the inaugural 1995 team rounds out the list. It was a bad team but it was special. Being 10 years old and falling in love with a hometown team along with the rest of the city was a special thing.

What say you? Who are your top four Jaguars teams? Leave a comment and let’s remember the better times together.
