Henne hasn't played in a game since Week 3 of the 2014 NFL season, when he went 4-for-7 for 33 yards in the first half against the Indianapolis Colts. He was benched at halftime and Blake Bortles has played every down for the Jaguars since then.
Henne was due to become a free agent next month, but he wasn't going to get any better deal than what he's got now. He's not a starting-caliber quarterback in the NFL, and to be able to serve as a backup for the same offense year in and year out while making anywhere in the realm of $4-5 million per year is a pretty sweet deal.
