The 2016 NFL Draft is just under a week away and I know you all know this because I type it every time I start a post about something involving the NFL Draft. To the point though, Jacksonville Jaguars general manager Dave Caldwell dropped some thoughts on four of the players many feel are the most likely picks for the Jaguars to Ryan O'Halloran of The Florida Times-Union.
You can read the full quotes at the link above, but there was something interesting that I, and many people on the internets noticed about what Caldwell said to O'Halloran, of which I'm sure will be expounded on more at the Draft Luncheon at Noon on Friday.
When describing defensive lineman Joey Bosa and DeForest Buckner, Caldwell used the word "versatile" for both players and that they would be a fit in any system. When describing linebacker Myles Jack and defensive back Jalen Ramsey, Caldwell used the word "rare" to describe their athleticism and talked about their speed and explosion.
Now, the fun part of reading way too much into innocuous quotes.
It sure sounds like Jack and Ramsey are much higher on the Jaguars board than Bosa or Buckner, and that should not be a surprise at all. With Jack and Ramsey, Caldwell seemed to be glowing and excited to talk about them, whereas with Bosa and Buckner he was careful to say they can fit in any defense and that they were solid players.
