2016 NFL Draft results: Jaguars land Jalen Ramsey

THE JAGUARS PICKED JALEN RAMSEY AND I'M CRYING!

Glenn Beil-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey with the No. 5 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. The pick is a shock for a lot of Jaguars fans, simply for the fact that the belief for months that Ramsey would not be available to the Jaguars by the time the No. 5 overall pick rolled around.

Ramsey is a player that most Jaguars fans have targeted as the ideal pick since the end of the NCAA season, though the Jaguars did end up signing Tashaun Gipson to a big deal in NFL free agency, a lot of fans still wanted Ramsey on the team and clearly the Jaguars wanted him too. Ramsey brings a lot of versatility to the defense with the ability to play cornerback and both safety positions.

The 6'1", 210 pound former Seminole brings some toughness and attitude to the defense as well, which is something the Jaguars have been missing for a while. The prevailing thought is that the Jaguars view Ramsey as an outside cornerback, at least early on, and he will likely end up starting opposite Davon House. Ramsey has the length that the Jaguars seem to prefer in their defensive backs as well, with 33"+ arms and has the ability to play zone, off and man coverage from multiple positions on defense.
