Jalen Ramsey suffers meniscus tear in practice

Kamil Krzaczynski-USA TODAY Sports

Jacksonville Jaguars rookie cornerback Jalen Ramsey suffered a knee injury in team practices over the weekend. There had been rumors about an injury, but there was no actual news on one. I had heard about a rookie being injured and was told it was not one to be concerned with, so the Ramsey injury was clearly not the one I was told about.

Below is a statement from the Jaguars on the injury:

Jalen Ramsey sustained a small tear to the meniscus in his right knee during phase two on-field workouts. Ramsey is obtaining a second opinion next week. More information will be available when Head Team Physician Dr. Kevin Kaplan and the Jaguars athletic training staff determine the appropriate medical care.

How long Ramsey will be out this season is not yet known, but obviously this is a huge blow for the Jaguars seeomg their first round pick for the second year in a row get injured in rookie camp.

Ramsey has not yet signed his NFL contract after being the No. 5 overall pick in the draft, but one would assume the Jaguars will honor what the contract would have been, like they did with Dante Fowler Jr. last season.
