Jalen Ramsey signs rookie contract with Jaguars

The Jaguars have signed their first-round pick.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed cornerback Jalen Ramsey to his rookie contract. The Jaguars selected Ramsey with the No. 5 overall pick of the 2016 NFL Draft.

The total value of Ramsey's contract is $23,351,000 with a signing bonus of $15,182,546. His 2016 cap hit is $4,245,636, according to Spotrac.

Ramsey, 6-1, 209, started all 41 games of his three-year career with the Florida States Seminoles, earning All-America honors each season. In college, Ramsey combined for 180 tackles (119 solo), 23 passes defensed, 15 tackles for a loss, five sacks, three interceptions, three forced fumbles, and two fumble recoveries. Ramsey, a member of Florida State’s 2014 BCS National Championship team, registered 52 tackles (37 solo), 10 passes defensed, 3.5 sacks and one fumble recovery as a junior in 2015.

Ramsey became the fourth consecutive underclassmen selected in the first round by general manager Dave Caldwell, joining defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. (Florida) in 2015, quarterback Blake Bortles (Central Florida) in 2014, and offensive lineman Luke Joeckel (Texas A&M) in 2013.
