Jaguars sign Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen

The Jaguars have signed both of their sixth-round picks today, the first being Arkansas quarterback Brandon Allen.

The Jacksonville Jaguars have signed sixth-round pick quarterback Brandon Allen. Allen holds the Arkansas school record with 66 touchdowns over his college career.

Allen's 64 touchdowns is an Arkansas record and he was completing nearly 66% of his passes in 2015 for his senior season. That comes after a very bad freshman year, a slightly better sophomore year, and a slightly better junior year after that. He's shown the ability to improve, which makes him an attractive prospect in the later rounds. He's also done well protecting the football and leading a run-heavy offense at Arkansas, so having an emergency guy who can do that is always good.

He'll likely make the 53-man roster since the Jaguars don't want to have wasted a draft pick, even a late one like a sixth-round selection, and he has all the tools to supplant current backup Chad Henne and be the No. 2 quarterback.
