It's a tale as old as time. Companies want to get the most bang for their buck with younger, cheaper and/or upgraded talent. The rigid process is no different in the NFL. Every year, dozens of veterans enter training camp hoping to stick around on a roster that is annually replenished with new talent. Whether the players are upgrades or just younger prospects with higher upside, the deck is typically stacked against veteran players on the fringe of making the roster.
