The Dallas Cowboys had their 2016 NFL Draft board leaked to the public once again, which seems to now have become a yearly occurrence. I guess it doesn't really matter months after the fact, but it is very interesting to look at, especially in regard to the players the Jacksonville Jaguars picked.
The Cowboys had Ezekiel Elliot as their No. 1 player in the 2016 NFL Draft, so it's not really a big shock that's who they ended up picking. Their second best player was Jalen Ramsey, who the Jaguars sprinted to the podium to draft. The real interesting this though, is the Cowboys had linebacker Jaylon Smith as the fifth best overall player, despite his injury, which is why the team picked him in the second round.
We like to say the Jaguars got two top five picks in the 2016 NFL Draft and if you look at Dallas' draft board, that's basically true. Jack wasn't in the Cowboys Top 5, but he was their No. 6 overall player according to this board and had a first round grade. As we all know, the Jaguars ended up trading up for him in the second round.
The only other Jaguars pick I could find on the Cowboys board was Brandon Allen, graded as a sixth round pick, which is where he ended up being drafted. There were a lot of illegible names on the list, so it's likely guys like Sheldon Day and Tyrone Holmes were in that group.
Were there any surprises you see on the Cowboys big board? In all honesty, I wish teams would just release their boards to the public after the fact, since it doesn't really seem to matter.
