Jaguars sign T.J. Barnes, release Jonas Gray

RIP Jonas Gray.

Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced they have claimed third-year defensive tackle T.J. Barnes. To make room on the roster, the Jaguars waived/injured fourth-year running back Jonas Gray who was suffering from a quad injury.

Barnes, 6-7, 364, was originally signed by Jacksonville as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2013. After being released on August 30, 2013, Barnes was signed by the New York Jets to the practice squad. After being waived, Barnes was claimed by Buffalo in December and spent the offseason with the Bills before he was waived the following August. Barnes is seemingly being signed as a body at defensive tackle because the Jaguars don't have enough guys in that group apparently.

Gray had 14 rushes for 54 yards and one reception for four yards in two career games with the Jaguars. He will be missed.
