Charting every Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue preseason snap

We go through every snap for Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue through the first three weeks of the preseason and break down the options the Jaguars have as they prepare for the regular season.

Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars decided to go all in on Dante Fowler and Yannick Ngakoue, two LEO pass rushers who have never played a snap in the NFL. Unless the team signs a veteran free agent over the next few days (anyone but Greg Hardy, please) this is our edge rush going into the 2016 season.

The two have been a disappointment. It's irrelevant if they should or shouldn't be playing poorly. They're playing poorly. And in my opinion, the argument can be made that we're in a worse position than when Andre Branch and Chris Clemons anchored these spots.

With the final preseason game, we rarely get to see starters play more than a drive or two (if they even play at all) so after a full preseason of as many snaps as Gus Bradley and Todd Wash are gonna give these two, what do they have to show for it?

What are the team's options?

Unfortunately, with less than two weeks before the season opener against the Green Bay Packers, there isn't a lot of time to do much of anything.

The first option, with such little time left, is to max out Tyrone Holmes' snaps on Thursday against the Atlanta Falcons and see if he's worth more time in regular season games than they may have originally thought before the preseason started. Dante and Yannick will undoubtedly get ample time to start the season no matter what their production looks like simply because of the investment put into them.

The bye week is Week 5 after London and this would be an awfully short leash for Dante and Yannick. I have to believe they get at least half the season to prove they can pick up the speed, strength, and technique of the pro game.

Tyrone Holmes has looked good, but against backups. He has good speed and strength, however.

Chris Smith has looked like Chris Smith.

And what the hell happened to trying Ryan Davis out at LEO or LOTTO? I saw he got some snaps against the Bengals third-string, but other than that... nothing.

The next option is to look for a veteran free agent. Tony Washington was waived/injured two days before they had to make the move, so bringing in a street edge rusher is a real possibility. Greg Hardy was brought in for a visit and he's (unfortunately) the only real possibility for a free agent signing.

11 days until the season opener.
