The Jacksonville Jaguars will reportedly hire Doug Marrone to be their new head coach, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. The move makes sense in a vacuum, but when you factor in how long it took to fire Gus Bradley, the fact they hired a search firm, and that they announced a guy already on their staff before anyone named their new head coach, it’s all a bit... puzzling.
But if you’re going to tie your new head coach with Bortles (c’mon, we all know this is going to happen) it makes some sense to sign Marrone to a one-year prove-it deal, right? And then if it doesn’t work out, scrap everything in 2018 and start over with a new regime and quarterback.
How do you feel about the Marrone hire? Do you think it’s good to keep this culture and quarterback going for another year? Or do you think this is just prolonging the inevitable and another wasted year in 2017?
Let’s talk it out in the comments. Bring some bourbon. It’s therapy time.
