The Jacksonville Jaguars have reportedly hired former head coach Tom Coughlin as their Executive VP of Football Operations, according to Adam Schefter of ESPN.
And this! Jaguars also hiring their former HC Tom Coughlin as Executive VP of Football Operations, per source. Marrone and Coughlin in Jax.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) January 9, 2017
As Executive VP of Football Operations, Coughlin will essentially be the on-field football equivalent of what President Mark Lamping has been for all the off-field operations. His specific duties and responsibilities are yet to be publicized but we’ll update as they are. In essence, Coughlin will be leading the Jaguars front office. It’s unsure how current general manager Dave Caldwell fits into that, but with his extension it’ll be interesting.
Coughlin was the Jaguars head coach from 1995-2002 and brought the team to two AFC Championship games before being fired after eight seasons. The team has had just three winning seasons since Coughlin left. Coughlin has won two Super Bowls.
