The Jacksonville Jaguars' defense has shown it is capable of carrying the offense and winning games. That's what it did last week in Pittsburgh.

But asking it to carry the offense and overcome a rash of special teams mistakes as well is just unfair, which is what happened Sunday afternoon in the Jaguars' 27-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams at EverBank Field.

The Jacksonville Jaguars spotted the Los Angeles Rams 17 points on Sunday, through poor special teams play, and to no one’s surprise ended up losing the game 24-17. The fact that the game ended within a single score was impressive, considering everything else that happened in the game.

It started with the opening kickoff where Pharoh Cooper took the kick back for a touchdown, immediately sucking the air out of EverBank Field. Thankfully, rookie running back Leonard Fournette injected some energy back in the crowd when he took his opening hand off for 75 yards and a touchdown.

About 5,000 fewer fans were in attendance for the Jaguars’ 27-17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday than for their home opener at EverBank Field, a decrease that comes after the decision by some players to protest during the national anthem last month in London.
