Let’s answer some questions ahead of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ matchup against the Indianapolis Colts!
Lukas from Columbus, OH
Q: I have followed the Jaguars for a while now and looking at it, Blake Bortles’ inconsistency is the main reason the Jaguars lose. So, my question is, will he stay consistent, for next game and for the rest of the season?
A: First, congratulations — you’re not blind! Second, no, I do not think Bortles can magically become consistent in the middle of a season. Maybe in an offseason, but even that seems slim. People are who they are whether they’re accountants or football players. Bortles is a volatile guy in terms of work performance. That’s who he is. Now the question becomes: Can we win with him? I don’t think we can, at least not in the long run, but a playoff berth this year isn’t far-fetched.
Jack from Mars
Q: Is Andrew Luck playing?
A: Nope.
Andrew from Brooksville, FL
Q: How do you think the Colts would be able to beat us? They look below average but is there a glaring weakness of ours that they could exploit?
A: They could stop the run and make Blake throw. They won’t, but that’s about it. I am more confident about this game and winning than I have been all season. If we lose on Sunday it will be because of some massive implosion... like we saw... last week... oh no... OH NO.
Joey from Lexington, KY
Q: Do you guys think we will win the AFC South?
A: Yes.
Tommy from Atlanta, GA
Q: Why has Bortles been so handcuffed this year, the coaching staff hasn't been letting him take many shots?
A: It’s because he’s literally worse than a handful of backup quarterbacks in the NFL.
Vernon from Charlotte, NC
Q: Why is Blake Bortles still on this roster? He is purely a liability. We can't hide him every week and expect to win.
A: Because the alternative is Chad Henne. At this point, Bortles is (unfortunately) the best option moving forward. Three months ago, that wasn’t the case, but the team did nothing at the quarterback position.
Will from Jacksonville, FL
Q: What is a realistic expectation for Dede Westbrook's impact on the passing game?
A: I actually have really high hopes for Westbrook when he comes back, specifically in stretching the field and giving Blake more space to hit the underneath stuff while also giving him a target to throw YOLO balls.
Tommy from Ponte Vedra, FL
Q: How do you think the selections of Blair Brown, and Dawuane Smoot in the draft were?
A: I think those picks would have been much better served trading for Brett Hundley.
Matt from Fleming Island, FL
Q: Do you think the Colts have a chance of stopping the Jaguars’ rushing attack on Sunday?
A: Nope.
