2018 Pro Bowl: Telvin Smith, Yannick Ngakoue lead Jaguars snubs

The Jacksonville Jaguars saw four of their starting defenders make it into the 2018 Pro Bowl — cornerbacks Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye and defensive linemen Malik Jackson and Calais Campbell.

But what about those who didn’t make it and maybe deserved a spot?

Telvin Smith

His AFC Defensive Player of the Week performance against the Pittsburgh Steelers was a signature performance in a huge win against the second-best team in the AFC. He has one sack, one forced fumble, three interceptions, five passes defended, and a defensive touchdown. Those are close to Pro Bowl numbers if not already there.

Yannick Ngakoue

Oh, boy.

The second-year edge-rushing phenom has four multi-sack games.

And 11.0 on the year.

And six forced fumbles.

Those are Pro Bowl numbers any other year.

Listen, fine, Joey Bosa and his 11.5 sacks gets a spot. But Khalil Mack has less sacks, forced fumbles, and pressures. Big snub.

Tommy Bohanon

The Jaguars are the only team to have eclipsed 2,000 rushing yards so far and the volume isn’t getting to them as they average a strong 4.4 yards per carry no matter who’s handling the ball.

I understand not putting a running back in — Leonard Fournette has been absent too many games. But Bohanon has led the way for their ground game. Why not the guy who led the fan voting at fullback?

What about you? Any other snubs I missed?
