Jaguars have third best odds to land Eric Berry

Could the safety make his way to Jacksonville if he leaves Kansas City?

NFL: AFC Divisional-Pittsburgh Steelers at Kansas City Chiefs Jay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY Sports

One of the most desired potential free agents this offseason is Chiefs safety Eric Berry. Most people around NFL circles believe that there is no way Berry gets out of Kansas City; however, until that becomes official, he will be at the top of many teams’ wish-lists. We obviously have no idea who the ‘real’ favorite to land Berry would be should he depart Kansas City, but luckily we have some betting odds from Bookmaker.eu to get us through until then!

Eric Berry team in Week 1 of 2017-18 regular season

Atlanta Falcons +1600

Chicago Bears +1400

Cleveland Browns +1000

Jacksonville Jaguars +900

Kansas City Chiefs +140

Field +105

As you can see, the Jaguars have the third best odds of having Berry as their week one starter next season, ranking only behind him staying with the Chiefs or signing with any other team from the field. The odds are considerably better for those two options than the four others, but it is pretty neat to see the Jaguars ranking ahead of other teams...not that it really means anything. Still, a little bit of fun information like this always helps the offseason go by faster, and gives us new scenarios to discuss.

If the unlikely were to happen, and the Chiefs did let Berry get away, the Jaguars would certainly be one of many teams looking to lock him up. They have plenty of cap room, a hole at strong safety, and a need for playmakers all over the roster. A player of Berry’s magnitude would instantly become one of, if not the, best player on the team.
