Benn’s re-signing makes the prospect of Bryan Walters returning all the more slim as he’ll look for somewhere he can break into the top four of a receiving corps.
In the Jaguars’ Week 6 victory over the Chicago Bears, Benn caught the game-winning 51-yard TD with 2:58 remaining in the fourth quarter. It marked Benn’s first TD since December 24, 2011 (1,819 days), when he was a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The 1,819 days between TD catches is the longest span between touchdowns for a receiver since Kassim Osgood went 2,100 days between scores from December 12, 2004 to September 12, 2010.
In his 52-game NFL career, Benn has caught 64 passes for 978 yards (15.3 average) and six touchdowns. Last year alone, Benn played in 15 games and had five catches for 116 yards and one touchdown.
