Nick Mangold released: Should the Jaguars pursue him?

NFL: New York Jets at Arizona Cardinals Mark J. Rebilas-USA TODAY Sports

The New York Jets will be releasing Nick Mangold shortly, according to Mangold himself.

And with any prolific player being released or hitting free agency, the question is always asked -- should the Jacksonville Jaguars give him a shot?

The short answer: no.

The long answer: Blake Bortles has had a new center in each of the past two years, starting with Stefen Wisniewski in 2015 and then transitioning to Brandon Linder in 2016. Would a third center in as many years be what’s best for this team?

Probably not.

Linder is a good center. He’s performed like a top-10 guy at points this last year. Leave him be and go sign any one of the free agent guards available because there are quite a few. The Cincinnati Bengals are possibly letting guard Kevin Zeitler go in free agency. Just go and pay him and leave well enough alone.

What do you think? Should the Jaguars go after Mangold? Or should they leave Linder where he is and sign a guard?
