2017 free agency: What guards are available for the Jaguars to sign?

NFL: Cincinnati Bengals at Buffalo Bills Kevin Hoffman-USA TODAY Sports

With former first round pick Luke Joeckel likely hitting free agency this year, the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be in the market for a new guard. Never mind the fact that nearly half of you think Brandon Linder should move back to guard after a successful year at center.

That’s not going to happen, by the way.

So, who’s available for the Jaguars to spend big on and bring in to plus in that crucial left guard spot?

Here’s Spotrac’s full listing of all free agent guards in 2017:

If Joeckel leaves for more money than the Jaguars are willing to pay him (and why wouldn’t he?) there are a few names on this list that could be big time targets for the Jaguars.

Kevin Zeitler of the Cincinnati Bengals is one. The 26-year old offensive lineman is viewed by many as the best guard set to hit the open market. He’s strong, he knows how to get to the second level, and he can help jump start an inconsistent run game here in Jacksonville. Just check out this film room piece we did on him.

T.J. Lang could be a backup option if Zeitler is re-signed by the Bengals or any other team is able to lure him away. The Green Bay Packers lineman is 29, so that’s older than ideal, but he’s still a tough, strong, and physical player who is a Pro Bowl talent.
