Dontari Poe scheduled to meet with Falcons

Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars have been hosting free agent defensive lineman Dontari Poe for a visit, which began on Sunday afternoon. Poe was spotted having lunch with Jaguars defensive coordinator Todd Wash about town earlier, but he does have a scheduled visit with the Atlanta Falcons in the next 24 hours, according to multiple reports.

Poe seemed like a surprise interest for the Jaguars when it was first reported, but the release of Roy Miller made it seem more logical. Tom Coughlin has always had a slew of defensive lineman to rotate during his time with the New York Giants and it seems he's hoping to bring that methodology down to Jacksonville, which is something I've personally preached about for a while. You can never have "too many" defensive lineman, and if your big concern is enough reps to go around, that's a problem I'm willing to have.

With Poe, the Jaguars also showed interest in Chris Baker and it makes me wonder if Coughlin could keep an eye on his former second round pick, Johnathan Hankins. The market on Hankins has been quiet, but with the interest in Poe I wouldn't be shocked if the Jaguars also had interest in Hankins.

As far as I know however, Poe is still in Jacksonville.
