looking to deal DT Sen'Derrick Marks,
will cut CB Davon House in next few days.
While we already knew the Jaguars were shopping Davon House, and they were unable to find any takers, it'll be interesting to see what kind of market is out there for Marks. Although he did look quick and explosive at times, the low point of the season will always be that 4th down offsides penalty.
Marks registered 3.5 sacks this year as he looked to get comfortable in a backup role. Marks didn't really adjust to his new role as much as we expected, saying he wasn't happy about being "a damn backup." He said he felt "slapped in the face."
This move certainly has big implications for Sheldon Day. Day can offer you similar production with a higher upside due to his youth, so I certainly don't question the merits of this decision. Plus, Marks was due a $1M roster bonus on March 9th, so look for some action before then. He has a cap hit of $4.67M this year, with only $200K of dead money if cut. If cut or traded, the Jaguars would have even more cap space to play with during free agency.
Let's see if Dave Caldwell and Doug Marrone can manufacture some interest in Marks at the Combine. If not, look for him to be cut on or before March 9th.
