The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly going after New England Patriots free agent tight end Martellus Bennett, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports. Other teams competing for Bennett are the New York Giants and Buffalo Bills.
Few TEs left. GB wants to keep Cook. Hear NYG, JAX, BUFF and NE are in on Bennett. TEN and DET have been inquiring on TEs as well— Jason La Canfora (@JasonLaCanfora) March 8, 2017
Bennett being on the Jaguars radar shouldn't come as a shock. As mentioned above, the team has a need at tight end, and Bennett has played for Tom Coughlin for the one season he was with the New York Giants. Bennett spent this past season winning a Super Bowl with the New England Patriots, after he was traded there in the offseason from the Chicago Bears.
Towards the end of his tenure with Chicago, Bennett was openly critical of his teammates, especially quarterback Jay Cutler. Before his three seasons with the Bears, Bennett spent the aforementioned single year in New York. He started his career with the Dallas Cowboys, playing there for four years after being drafted by the franchise in the second round of the 2008 draft.
