The Jacksonville Jaguars’ pursuit of Martellus Bennett just got a lot more interesting. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the New England Patriots are trading for Indianapolis Colts tight end Dwayne Allen.

Whew.
This means one competitor for Bennett — the Patriots — are out of the race. But does that mean the Colts become even more aggressive in their pursuit?
Bennett is a talented tight end and the Jaguars need at tight end, regardless of what you may or may not think of Ben Koyack and Neal Sterling. They’ll likely draft one too even if they sign Bennett since he turns 30 this month, but Jacksonville would be a good place for him to land. Bennett has also played for Tom Coughlin for the one season he was with the New York Giants so it’d be interesting to see if Coughlin is able to get him to Jacksonville.
