The Jacksonville Jaguars have selected Oklahoma wide receiver Dede Westbrook in the fourth round of the 2017 NFL Draft. The former Oklahoma receiver has speed to burn down the field, which have drawn comparison’s to Houston Texans wide receiver Will Fuller, but he does have character concerns that made many people think he was undraftable.
Westbrook has been arrested multiple times on domestic violence charges, but the Jacksonville Jaguars clearly think they have vetted him enough to be comfortable those days are behind him.
One the field, Westbrook was a former Heisman trophy finalist and the 2016 Big 12 player of the year. He got a lot of his yards on manufactured touches, which are screens and short throws, but he’s electric with the football in his hand.
He’s slight of frame at roughly 180 pounds, but he is a burner that can setup defensive backs with double moves and pick up chunks down the field.
