Free agent wide receiver Victor Cruz will be visiting the Jacksonville Jaguars on Thursday, per multiple media reports. Cruz, 30, spent the first six seasons in the NFL with the New York Giants, breaking out in his 2011 season with over 1,500 receiving yards and nine touchdowns.
Cruz had three productive season with the Giants before suffering an injury that seemed to derail his career. Cruz wasn't much of a factor for the Giants during the 2016 season and the team decided to release him during the offseason in a move to save a chunk of cap space. Cruz has had a few visits this offseason, but obviously has yet to be signed.
The fit for Cruz with the Jaguars is hard to guess, as I'm not sure at this point in his career it's unlikely he's going to be anything more than your fourth or fifth wide receiver. It's unlikely he's going to play over Allen Robinson, Allen Hurns or Marqise Lee and Cruz isn't really known as a special teams guy. The team also spent a fourth round pick on Dede Westbrook, so again Cruz would kind of be buried on the depth chart.
Update: Cruz is actually visiting May 23rd, not Thursday.
