Jaguars sign 5th round pick Blair Brown

Jacksonville Jaguars

The Jacksonville Jaguars have officially signed fifth-round pick linebacker Blair Brown, the team announced on Tuesday afternoon via press release. Brown was considered a steal as a pick in the fifth-round, with many thinking he could go as high as the third round in the 2017 NFL Draft.

"My heart is racing a little bit," Brown said via a team release. "This was definitely a big moment for me, just to be able to sit down and look at the NFL contract and see my name on it. It was a dream come true. I've been dreaming of this moment since I was a kid. I started playing when I was five [years old]. My mom used to wake me up because I used to fall asleep in my helmet as a five-year old. She said, ‘You can't do that.' I have been dreaming about it since I was five years old."

Brown is expected to contribute right away on special teams and potentially back up both the weakside and middle linebacker positions. The 6-foot, 238-pound linebacker played both positions for Ohio and was a first-team All-Mid-American Conference linebacker his senior season.
