Financial terms haven’t been disclosed yet, but because of the new salary slotting system, it will likely be just above last year’s No. 4 overall draft pick — Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott, who signed a four-year, $24,956,341 contract, including a $16,350,066 signing bonus, $24,506,340 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $6,239,085.
The pick of Fournette definitely signals the Jaguars want to be more of a physical smash mouth team, so their offense will match what the defense put on the field last season. Fournette is a supremely talented running back who can punish defenses with power and get chunks of yardage with speed, if the blocking in front of him paves him the way. He's not the most agile running back, but when Fournette has running lane, he picks up speed quickly and can hit the home run.
