With just 88 days until kickoff, let’s talk about which No. 88 in Jacksonville Jaguars history you’d rather have on your team — Damon Jones or Allen Hurns?
Damon Jones (1997-2001)
Yes, he made Downer Jag Fan's "Hall of Shame" in 2014, but Damon "Big Sofa" Jones wasn't a bad tight end, just not a guy who got the box score stats. However, he’s woefully behind Allen Hurns on touchdowns — collecting only 11 in five years with the Jaguars — but that included eight during the Jaguars best years of 1998 and 1999. He was a big dude and more of an extra blocker, while Pete Mitchell and Kyle Brady caught the passes.
Allen Hurns (2014-Present)
Let’s see here — Hurns has 150 catches to Jones’ 41. He’s got 2,185 yards to Jones’ 550. He’s got 19 touchdowns to Jones’ 11. He just got a contract extension, so all accounts are he’ll play for longer than Jones did in the late 90’s. Yeah, I’m taking Hurns.
