81 days until kickoff: Andre Rison vs. Torry Holt

With just 81 days until kickoff, let’s debate which No. 81 you’d rather have as a part of your Jacksonville Jaguars receiving corps — Andre Rison or Torry Holt?

Andre Rison (1996)

With seven seasons in the league (and one All-Pro, four Pro Bowl selections, and four double-digit touchdown totals under his belt) Rison was a receiver still in his prime coming to a team a Jaguars team that was entering its own. But after several public spats with Mark Brunell and head coach Tom Coughlin off the field and being outplayed by both Willie Jackson and Jimmy Smith on the field, the headaches Rison caused weren’t worth his production. He finished his career in Jacksonville with just 10 games played, 458 yards, and two touchdowns. He immediately went to the Green Bay Packers and scored the opening touchdown of Super Bowl XXXI.

Torry Holt (2009)

After racking up 12,660 yards and 74 touchdowns over a 10-year career with the St. Louis Rams, it was thought that a veteran receiver with a little less in the tank could help this Jaguars team. After all, David Garrard was good for at least 3,000 yards, they still had Maurice Jones-Drew in his prime, and the offensive line wasn’t bad. But with only Mike Sims-Walker to draw coverage and Holt having less in the tank than was originally thought, the 33-year-old finished with a career-low 722 yards, 49.5% catch ration, and his only NFL season without a touchdown.
