30 Day Challenge: Jacksonville Jaguars Player You’re Most Looking Forward To In 2017

For the month of June we'll ask a different Jacksonville Jaguars related question to our readers. It’s the dead season and this will help us all get to know each other a little better.

The Jacksonville Jaguars are in the middle of OTAs that head coach Doug Marrone won’t even give the label as legitimate practices, so it’s time to fill the dead zone, folks.

We want to post a question or topic every day for the month of June, and we will give our answers either in the post or in the comments and we want everyone else to join in. It should be fun and should help kill the time as we creep closer to training camp.

Today’s question...

What Jaguars player are you most looking forward to?

A.J. Bouye, without a doubt.

Jalen Ramsey showed he’s a bonafide starter in this league last year and yet the Jaguars signed Bouye to a contract that saw him get $26 million in guaranteed money.

And it’s worth it.

Bouye was considered to be the best cornerback on the free agent market, having a breakout season with the Houston Texans in 2016. He started 11 games in place of an injured Kevin Johnson and allowed only 47.9% of his targets to be completed, averaging only 10.8 yards per reception. He had one interception and 16 defended passes in 2016, and has recorded six interceptions and 32 defended passes in his four-year career.

So why am I so interested in Bouye? Because he was described as a one-year wonder by some and I want to see what he does with a Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback in Ramsey opposite him. After all, the Texans didn’t expect Bouye to be as good as he is — putting him behind Johnson on the depth chart and only playing him last year because of injury. Local Houston media said not to overpay him last year before free agency, but here we are.

Bouye will get his chances but will he be a solid No. 2 like the Jaguars hope or wilt under expectations?
