Who will be the Jaguars 2017 training camp breakout star on offense?

NFL: Tennessee Titans at Jacksonville Jaguars Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars hit the field for the start of 2017 training camp on Thursday morning, which is open to the public, and fans can finally pick out who the “Boys of Summer” will be. Anyone who has been to training camps in the past know there is always a handful of players who fans think will end up being superstars because of how they perform during these first few weeks.

I thought it would be fun to pick a player on offense and defense who I think can be that breakout star during camp and the preseason. On Monday we looked at the defense, but today I think we’ll look at the one much harder to think outside the box and move to the offense.

Breakout star on offense: Chris Ivory, running back

Now, I’m not expecting Ivory to rattle off 1,000 yards, or even 700 yards, but I do think he’s been prematurely written off by a lot of fans. Ivory looked as advertised in the preseason for the Jaguars last year, but a sudden medical issue that kept him out of the first few games completely derailed his entire season. He could never really get it back on track.

While Leonard Fournette is going to get the lion’s share of carries and T.J. Yeldon will get a lot of the work on third downs, I think Ivory will still have an important role to play on an offense that all signs point to being run-focused in 2017.
