With just 25 days until kickoff, let’s debate No. 25 on the Jacksonville Jaguars. Do you think Peyton Thompson will make this year’s 53-man roster?
He’s played how many games?
Thompson was a special teams mainstay for most of Gus Bradley’s tenure as head coach. He went undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft and bounced around the Atlanta Falcons, Chicago Bears, and Washington’s offseason rosters before signing here in 2014. Since coming here, he’s played in 32 games in three seasons and collected nine tackles, 0.5 sacks, and one pass defended.
As I said, most of his time was spent on special teams, but injuries in 2015 forced him onto the field and he was pretty up and down. He got burned a couple of times, but he also made a play here and there.
So, does he make this year’s 53-man roster? He certainly has the inside track at the backup free safety position and his ability to play emergency cornerback is helpful for sure.
What do you think? Does Thompson make this roster or will one of the younger guys show him up?
