Leonard Fournette, Marqise Lee out Thursday vs. Buccaneers

NFL: Jacksonville Jaguars-Training Camp Reinhold Matay-USA TODAY Sports

The Jacksonville Jaguars announced that both rookie running back Leonard Fournette and veteran wide receiver Marqise Lee would not play in Thursday’s preseason game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Lee being out shouldn’t be a surprise, as it was reported he’s dealing with a high ankle sprain, so it’s likely he will miss the remainder of the preseason.

As for Fournette, him missing Sunday was a surprise, especially considering Fournette was no where to be seen on the practice field. With the injury being a foot injury however, it behooves the Jaguars to be as cautious as possible with the fourth overall pick, because it’s clear he’s going to be a critical part of their offense in 2017.

The only other issue is, with Fournette out the team also had Chris Ivory sitting out on Sunday, so if Ivory is also limited for Thursday, the Jaguars are paper thin at the running back position and would mean increased work for guys like T.J. Yeldon, Corey Grant, Tim Cook etc.
