Jaguars HC Doug Marrone said his team's starting QB job is up for grabs, waiting for Blake Bortles or Chad Henne to win it.— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) August 18, 2017
Allen had a good night tonight against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, going 10-for-15 for 144 yards and a touchdown. He missed on two red zone opportunities late in the fourth quarter at the goal line but with the dropped passes when Chad Henne was in the game, the Jaguars would have been leading at that point.
Bortles needs to find a way out of his head. He’s obviously struggling and he’s not done well at all in practice or in the first two games of the preseason. Marrone said that Bortles is still the starting quarterback, according to Hays Carlyon, but things are getting tough.
In 45 starts, Bortles has 11 wins and just 58.8 percent completion percentage, along with 51 interceptions to just 69 touchdowns. Bortles needs to do better as the No. 3 overall draft pick in the 2014 NFL Draft.
