The Jacksonville Jaguars are fully embroiled in a quarterback battle between two quarterbacks no one really wants to see play. After Thursday’s embarrassing loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, head coach Doug Marrone opened up the quarterback competition between struggling starter Blake Bortles and veteran Chad Henne.
The two quarterbacks have split reps with the first team 50-50 according Ryan O’Halloran of The Florida Times-Union, but apparently the job is Henne’s to lose at this point according to Chris Mortensen of ESPN.
During the Monday Night Football broadcast between the New York Giants and Cleveland Browns, Mortensen indicated right now the Jaguars starting quarterback job is Chad Henne’s to lose.
Most local media seem to have this feeling anyway, as the sheer fact that it’s close enough between Henne and Bortles that you open up the competition between to two is a damning sign for Bortles. Barring a total meltdown on Thursday against the Carolina Panthers, it indeed looks like Chad Henne is in the driver’s seat... unless he veers off the road.
