31 days until kickoff: Who wore it best — Daimon Shelton or Davon House?

Daimon Shelton

With just 31 days until kickoff, let’s debate who wore No. 31 best for the Jacksonville Jaguars — Daimon Shelton or Davon House?

Daimon Shelton (1997-2000)

Shelton was selected by the Jaguars in the sixth round of the 1997 NFL Draft and found a role on the team lead-blocking for Fred Taylor and James Stewart. He led the way starting in 1998 and helped this team’s running game through two of its best seasons in franchise history.

He even got a couple of passes and rushes thrown his way, collecting 318 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown in his four seasons with the Jaguars.

Davon House (2015-2017)

House started 15 games his first year with the Jaguars and appeared to be a good find in free agency for the Jaguars, but something happened between the end of the 2015 season and the beginning of the 2016 season and House found himself tumbled down the depth chart. The team picked Jalen Ramsey with the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft and added Prince Amukamara on a prove it contract, but even prior to the season it was expected House would still be a factor on defense.

But he wasn't a factor at all really, until injuries forced the Jaguars hand.

House seemed frustrated towards the end of the year, pointing out he'd asked what the issue was and why he wasn't playing and got no answers. And when the Jaguars cut him, it was what was best for the team.
