With just 29 days until kickoff, let’s debate who wore No. 29 better for the Jacksonville Jaguars — Jason Craft or Brian Williams?
Jason Craft (1999-2003)
Drafted in the fifth round of the 1999 NFL Draft out of Colorado State, it took Craft a couple of years to get some decent playing opportunities. But even when he did, they were few and far between. He had just one season out of five where he started more than half the year but still finished his career in Jacksonville with seven interceptions, 26 passes defended, three fumble recoveries, and one touchdown — all in largely three years as a real contributor.
Brian Williams (2006-2008)
Williams’ play fell off dramatically when he came to the Jaguars. In four seasons with the Minnesota Vikings, he had 12 interceptions, 42 passes defended, seven forced fumbles, and four sacks. But when he came to Jacksonville all of that seemed to be cut in half — just six interceptions, 29 passes defended, two forced fumbles, and zero sacks. He went on to play with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants before retiring after the 2011 season.
