Jaguars claim 5 players on NFL waiver wire

New, comments

The Jaguars continue to churn their roster, claiming a handful of players on waivers.

The NFL waiver deadline has come and gone, and the Jacksonville Jaguars have claimed five players on waiver. This means that the Jaguars obtain control of the player’s contract and now must cut five players to place them on the 53-man roster.

The players the Jaguars claimed are as follows:

Chicago Bears OL William Poehls

Houston Texans NT Eli Ankou

Baltimore Ravens LB Donald Payne

New England Patriots TE James O’Shaughnessy

Miami Dolphins DB Lafayette Pitts

Nothing really Earth shattering or surprising in these claims. It was expected the team would fish around at nose tackle, offensive line and tight end. I guess it’s a little surprising the team only claimed a single offensive lineman, but some of the older veterans available like Alex Boone and John Greco are not subject to waivers.

This probably won’t be the end of the Jaguars back end roster churn, as the team is likely still going to look at the offensive line.

Hopefully.

Right?
