Former Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Brandon Allen has been claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Rams.

The Rams only had two quarterbacks, a young guy coming off a disappointing year and an underwhelming veteran. Allen gives them an option should the Rams need a practice arm during the season or a prospect to explore late in the year should everything just implode.
Or was that the Jaguars?
There was some talk that Allen could be the first quarterback off the bench (not Chad Henne) if Blake Bortles struggled early in the season. I guess that’s no longer the case.
“He’s been a player now that has played well in games and not practiced as well as he’s played, consistently,” Marrone said last week. “He’s had good practices, obviously. I think when he gets in there, again, you’re looking to see can he keep doing the same thing? Can he make plays? Can he throw the ball? Can he stay in there? Can he take the punishment? Can he take the hits?”
It was pretty obvious the Jaguars were holding their 10th and final practice squad spot for him, signing nine up to this morning. But the Rams, who had the No. 5 overall waiver wire spot, snatched him up quickly.
