Another week, another game where the offensive line underperformed.
The Jacksonville Jaguars couldn’t get any rhythm on offense against the Tennessee Titans. The ground game was stop-and-go and while some of that was on the running backs’ unwillingness to hit the holes that were clearly there, the line didn’t do many favors in a game where they had to pass more than they ran.
But this isn’t a run blocking column, it’s a sacks allowed column. Which Jacksonville Jaguars players allowed the only two sacks on Blake Bortles? Let’s find out.
Sack #1: 3rd and 10 at TEN 34, 5:04 in 3Q
Blake leaves the pocket way too early. I don’t know what he saw — the pressure nor the open lane for an easy first down were there. He needs to be more patient in the pocket, especially against a three-man rush and one guy spying him.
Fault: Blake Bortles
Sack #2: 2nd and 10 at JAX 32, 4:55 in 4Q
Josh Wells and Patrick Omameh just combine for a comedy of errors on this play. I’m going to pin it on Wells because he shouldn’t have gone away from his zone of responsibility, but Omameh overcompensating during the stunt is almost funny enough to not care.
Fault: Josh Wells
