The Tennessee Titans were rumored to be likely to fire head coach Mike Mularkey if they lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars last week. Now they’re rumored to be likely to fire him if they lose in the first round of the playoffs.
That’s according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport who says the team is preparing to court New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels if they go one-and-done this weekend.
The #Titans are in the playoffs, but coach Mike Mularkey’s job is not safe. Sources say a loss could end his tenure, as the team prepares for a run at #Patriots OC Josh McDaniels. Big game today with multiple ramifications.

Going to the opposite end of the spectrum and finding an innovate, offensive-minded coach to maximize what could be a good quarterback in Marcus Mariota is probably the way to go. Mularkey has spent his waning years trying to fit a square EXOTIC SMASHMOUTH peg into a round modern-day, passing-is-kinda-important, stop-running-the-read-option-into-300-pound-defensive-linemen-you-idiot hole and he’s ruining good careers.
Then again, it’s the Titans, so I hope they replace him with Gus Bradley when the Kansas City Chiefs win today.
